| Claiming less that thirty registered parish families, St. Mary's in the Mountains is totally dependent upon the good will of its visitors to both remain open and to provide a glimpse at the legacy that adorns the "heart of the Comstock Community" and the "Mother of all Catholic Churches in Nevada." Largely due to almost 150 years of adminstration by temporary personnel assignments, structural defects evolved that threaten both the church and the surrounding school grounds. Generally accomodated by a small but stawart group of volunteers, immediate economic assistance is required to contact our occasional benefactors by U.S. Post and by WebMail and to enable St. Mary's in the Mountains to host as many of Virginia City's worldwide visitors year round. Our heating bill last February exceeded $1,400! Individual Contributions are gratefully appreciated. In addition, there is a growing cadre of "Friends of St. Mary's" that have elected to support St. Mary's in the Mountains on a regular monthly basis. Any and all support is both a blessing and a privilege that is humbly accepted by our church.
Yours in Christ,
Father Joe. |
